Hello -long time no speak.............

I know it has been a while. So let me catch you up. I Have been working my butt off to get out of debt and I am about to be debt free very soon. I recently took the Sisterlock class. I am now a sisterlock training consultant. I took the class in march 2011. I started My business called Freedomlocks (www.Freedomlocks.com). Since then I completed my first head, which took 30 hours. It was scary but as the hours got longer I became much more confident and a little faster. I have been keeping busy since my website got put up. Hello, I know it has been a while since I have posted but it was not done on purpose -it's just that I wanted to post with a picture but unfortunately my computer has no memory left and my camera got messed up and I still have not had a chance to replace it. I wish you guys could see my hair now. My hair is growing along very well. I am so loving my hair. Well, hopefully next time I will have some pictures posted. I just thought I would post a little something so that you guys know that I am alive and well.

2nd Retightening Before Easter

I cannot wait to get a new digital camera-I am using the photo booth  on my mac and I have to look for places in the house for good lighting and today I chose the bathroom.  I did not plan for my hair to get done for easter it just happen that way just like valentines day.

I got my retightening done Thursday the 20th. This time I had to get my hair retightened in 5 weeks.  My hair is growing so fast and thick that you can tell it was time to get my hair done.  My consultant and I decided that getting my hair retightened every five weeks would be ideal because I had alot of new growth.  The night before I washed my hair I forgot to band it.  Well, you guess it -my consultant was having a hell of time retightening my hair on the right side -it was a good thing she started on that side first because it took 3hrs just to do one side of my head, which would of taken 2hrs. The left side of my head was not that bad..... it took 2hrs.  I know not to do that again.

Seven facts about my self:

1. I am an artist as you already know. I draw black and white drawings and I just started to paint in acrylic. Now when I post my paintings you would think that I have been drawing along time but I am still learning.  I have been drawing in black and white for a while so learning to paint was a dream waiting to manifest itself.

I am not much of a writer, but that is something I am working on. So please forgive me if my grammar is not put in the right places.  

2. I am outgoing. I love to meet people. I love the outdoors. When ever it is nice out I take my son out to a different park each week. When it rains I love to open the windows half way and listen to the rain drops. Then I put a good movie on to watch-majority of time it's either a love story or suspense.

3. I also looooooooooooooove to dance. I too can go to any dance party and dance from start to finish.  I would search the floor for any man who can Dance (those that appear single) and he would be my dance partner for the night (only when my husband was not available-for example if I went out with the girls or if my husband was there and he was tired).  

4.  I do not drink alcohol except if mixed in cake, such as Jamaican Rum Cake, which the Jamaicans call black cake.  I do not smoke or have any tattoos. I am vegetarian. 

5. I am from Brooklyn Newyork. My parents moved me and my brothers and sisters here to Florida when I was 15 years old. It took me a very long time to warm up to this state. I would not want to live there now, unless it was upstate Newyork because I love the scenery. I try to visit New york every 1-2 years. 

 

6. I love to work with young people (any age group). I love to encourage them to do better with their lives and see their self worth.  

7. I love to learn new things. I love change because change keeps me motivated and not set in my ways that God cannot use me.  I am always trying to better my self in all areas in my life.  I do not think I know too much or that I am better than anyone.  As God would say: He has begun a good work in me and will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

"HAPPY VALENTINE LOCKERS" Roller Set

I had to go to work this morning so there was no way I was going to work looking like yesterday with no curls.  I like this look  better.  I got compliments again from my coworkers.

I was not paying attention that valentine was coming up and I got my retightening done right on time. Happy Valentine my fellow lockers. 

The Day Of My Retightening

Well, it's the day of my retightening and I asked my consultant Ann Marie how my hair was doing so far.  She said my hair was not bad and that my hair will lock up fast because of the texture of my hair, which is coarse.  She said  I had some slippage.  She asked how I was washing my hair and I told her that I bind my hair (braid the hair and put the rubber bands at the end of the permed ends).  She said next time I need to put the rubber bands where my locked hair ended because eventually the permed ends would be cut off. By doing that -it would prevent the slippage. 

 She braided my hair in the front, which looked nice.  She told me to wet the back of my hair, braid it, and unbraid it the next day.  Well, as you can see it did not turn out too well.  So I am going to roller set it tonight.  Everything is a learning process.  I am making sure I keep up with my hair appointments so as my hair grows- it will grow nice and neat.  My hair consultant (Ann Marie) is so cool.  Her hair is so beautiful.  I will ask her if I can take a picture of her hair next time. 

The Day Before My 1st Retightening

I just got my hair washed and roller set ready for me to go to work the next day.  There was no way that I was going to go to work looking stink.  Even though it's time to get my hair retightened-you could' nt tell.  Am I still loving my hair? YES I AM.  This is me at 6 A.M. getting ready to go to work.  I just had to take a picture before I left this morning.  I got compliments from my co-workers.  Tomorrow I get my hair retightened since I had my hair locked 4 weeks ago.  Tomorrow, I'll know how my hair has been doing since then- can't wait.

Beginning week 2

 I still love my baby locks, but I am getting tired of my permed ends -no matter how small the rollers that I apply to my hair to achieve a certain look in the morning -I would be rockin for about an hour or 2 and here comes the humidity-my hair just drop as if I did not do anything to it.  I can't stand it. As you can see-I did have my hair curled  this morning, It just keeps ending like what you see in the picture. When I think of those days when my hair was permed I remember that I never really styled my hair for that same reason (HUMIDITY).  I would wrap and unwrap and go and it worked for me at the time.  Don't get me wrong -I do not regret not locking my hair in this way because I wanted to go through the transition (perm to locked) smoothly.  I can't wait to grow my permed ends out.   I am not experiencing any slippage yet.  My locks are holding together well so far.

Day 2, the final finished look-Don't I look good. (LOL)

As you can see I did not want to cut my permed ends off . This was the best way for me to grow out my hair with out dreading putting a comb through those rough roots.  After my consultant did my locks she had to even out my hair because my ends were so bad.  Although she had to cut alot of my hair length -I was glad it was to the point that I could style it.  Well...I  am pleased with the results. So long till next time.

These are pictures I took in October 2007.  This is all my real hair I just washed , conditioned and blow dried my hair so I can take this last look of my permed hair-this would of been the month that I would get my hair permed but I am getting my hair locked instead.
